Condolences on death of former Cllr. James McBrearty

Chairman of Donegal County Council, Cllr. Ciaran Brogan, on behalf of the elected members of the Council has expressed his sincere condolences on the death of former Donegal County Councillor James McBrearty who passed away yesterday. 

 

The late James McBrearty was co-opted onto Donegal County Council in November 1978 and served until 1979 and he returned to sit on the Council in June 1985 until 1999.  He was Chair of Donegal County Council in 1990/91.

 

Cllr. Brogan described the late James McBrearty as a genuine, honest and hardworking man who will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the wider community.  He acknowledged his great contribution to his local community and indeed to the entire county saying "James will be remembered for his hard work and his genuine love for south west Donegal and indeed for the entire county.  He was a wonderful representative for his constituents in what was then the Donegal Electoral Area and is remembered as a fair man who always had the greatest regard for the interests of the people he represented".
